Skilled Nursing

Home care nurses provide skilled nursing care for:

Supportive Care

These services are provided by Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNA) and Home Health Aides. They will follow your customized care plan that has been developed with the collaboration of a Registered Nurse (RN), Physician and family members.

J&K's professional and compassionate staff is trained to provide the following services:

• Assistance with dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting
• Assistance with standing, ambulating, and transferring
• Administers active and passive Range of motion exercises
• Assistance with transfers, Hoyer lifts
• Assistance with medication management
• Assistance with light housekeeping, laundry
• Meal preparation

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapist work to help patients regain physical function and improve range of motion. Physical Therapists in accordance with physician orders can provide services to assist in the following:

• Gait training
• Use of wheelchairs, walkers
• Artificial limbs, etc.
• Pain control
• Range of motion exercise

Occupational Therapy

Patients with permanent disabilities, such as spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, or muscular dystrophy, often need special instruction to master certain tasks of daily living. For these individuals, J&K's Occupational Therapists in accordance with physician orders can provide services to assist in the following:

• Demonstrate the use of adaptive equipment, including wheelchairs, eating aids, and dressing aids.
• Design or build special equipment needed at home or at work, including computer-aided adaptive equipment.
• Teach clients how to use the equipment to improve communication and control various situations in their environment.

Speech and Language Therapy

The Speech Therapist make home visits to evaluated the patient’s communications needs and develop a plan of treatment in accordance with the physician orders. J&K's staff is trained to provide services to assist in the following:

• Hearing impairments
• Cognitive or other developmental delays
• Weak oral muscles
• Birth defects such as cleft lip or cleft palate
• Autism
• Motor planning problems
• Respiratory problems (breathing disorders)
• Swallowing disorders
• Traumatic brain injury

Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic tool, which utilizes animals as catalysts to meet specific therapeutic goals. J&K is a member of the Delta Society and presently has two pet partner teams to assist patients. J&K's Pet Therapy team benefit a wide spectrum of populations. Individuals with physical, physiological and psychological issues will benefit through some of the following ways:

• Socializing through collaborative team efforts using the animal as a catalyst
• Overcome fear
• Unconditional positive regard
• Social Phobias
• Animals can contribute to the patient’s recovery from an illness
• The presence of an animal has been found to facilitate lower blood pressure
